- 809. – First notes about the organization of seamen from Boka Kotorska

- 1453. – Association called 'Brotherhood of seamen' was founded and it was the fore runner of the present Boka Marine

- 1571. – battle at Lepant- seamen from Boka took part in it

- Petar Zelalic, from Bijela, at the second half of XVIII century got a medal for courage and the rank of Maltese knight

- Matija Zmajevic, from Perast, at the second half of VIII century, was an admiral of the Baltic fleet under the Russian tsar Peter the Great

- Marko Martinovic, Captain, and maritime teacher, taught 17 Russian dukes and dyers in 1698 in Perast about maritime skills and navigation

- In XVII and XVIII century Boka had about 300 ocean going sailing ships and 400 ships for coastal navigation

- 1850. – on the basis of Imperial Chart from 1849, the first one-year state run Nautical School in Kotor was established

- Ivo Vizin, from Prcanj, was the first Slav who circumnavigated the world with his sailing boat »Splendido« 1852.-1859. For this undertaking he was decorated by tsar Franz Josef

- 1878. – Montenegro, according to Saint Stephen Agreement and Berlin Peace Agreement , has extended its territory getting exit to the sea including port of Bar with the seaside, as well as greater part of Skoder Lake. In 1880 port of Ulcinj was included as well. It was about 150 sailboats in Ulcinj at the time, and they continued to sail under the Montenegro flag

- 1884. – Book of regulations for acquiring a rank of Master Mariner was published, and the exams were performed in Pristan and Ulcinj

- 1885.- Montenegro gets first steamboats for navigation on the Bojana river and Skoder Lake. The first Montenegrin shipping company (steamboat society), with the headquarters in Bar, was founded. The aim of the society was to maintain the regular navigation between Montenegrin ports, Boka Kotorska, Trieste, etc.

- 1888. - shareholding company 'Montenegrin Duke Steamboat Society' with the headquarters in Bar, was founded

- 1904. – on Volujica, near Bar, the first radio station went into operation with the presence of the famous Markoni and Montenegrin sovereign Nikola I

- 1909. – with the building of the breakwater , the port of Bar was officially opened

- 1891-1918. – the ships of 'Bokokotorska Plovidba' sailed along Boka Kotorska bay

- 1920. – Shipping company 'Boka' was founded

- 1921. – The Nautical school in Kotor becomes a four-year school under the name of Maritime Academy

- 1934. – 'Zetska Plovidba' (Zeta Navigation) was founded

- 1948. – Shipping company 'Lovcen' was founded in Kotor, and some time later shipping company 'Brodarstvo' in Herceg Novi was established too

1953. - Founded Association of seafarers of People Republic of Montenegro

- 1955. – Shipping company 'Jugoslavenska Oceanska Plovidba’ (Jugooceanija) was founded

1959. - Founded Maritime University in Kotor

- 1960. - Shipping company 'Prekookeanska Plovidba' in Bar was founded

- 1969. – The Maritime Academy changes its name into Maritime School Kap. Marko Martinovic - The famous professors of the Maritime School in Kotor were: prof. Milos Miloševic, prof. Milos Lipovac, prof. Niko Niketic, prof.. Niko Ivovic, prof. Branko Nikovic, prof. Predrag Kovacevic, prof. Dusan Stanic, prof Marko Latkovic, prof. phd. D. Tripkovic

- 1966. – Associations of Maritime Engineers of SFRY was founded

- 1973. – Associations of Maritime Engineers was founded in Kotor

- 1993. - Associations of Master Mariners (Captians) of Yugoslavia was founded

- 2001. - In Montenegro no more exist Shipmaters' Association of Yugoslavia

- 2001. - In Montenegro founded Shipmasters' Association of Montenegro

- 2011, May, CESMA - associated member
